Airless spray orifices start out as carburized tungsten powder.  This powder is pressed into a form, called a blank, and sintered at high temperature and pressure to fuse the particles together.  One may assume that the internal dome geometry is a simple sphere.  In some cases it is.  Usually, either due to design intent or manufacturing variation, it is not.  Additionally, there are other simplifications that do not hold true in reality.
